How do I make an appointment?

Please call the CLS headquarters at 706 783 8128. A member of our support staff will take your information and share it with the vet team. Your vet will then contact you directly to schedule. We do not take appointment requests via social media.

How much do appointments cost?

Farm calls incur a trip fee based on the distance away from the home office in Comer OR (for our CLS Northwest customers) the distance from Dr. Josey’s home base in Rome. Appointment costs on top of the trip fee vary due to each case’s unique circumstances, per-head herdwork costs, treatment plans, and other such considerations. After-hours and emergency trip fees may apply. Veterinarians can provide estimates prior to appointments if requested.

What about emergencies?

CLS offers local emergency coverage to farm clients. Please see our service area maps to determine if you fall within this range! For livestock emergencies, call 762 234 6108. For equine emergencies, call 762 338 9756. Emergency visits may result in higher trip fees. If our on-call vet is unable to answer the phone immediately, please leave a voicemail and describe your situation. Your emergency call will be returned as soon as possible.

Can I bring sick livestock to the CLS headquarters?

Select cases, such as young animals, may be able to be seen at the CLS office in Comer. At this time, we do not have adequate working facilities to be able to effectively see most livestock patients or run herdwork appointments at the headquarters.

My animal is sick and needs to be seen. I do not have a chute or a similar way to safely restrain it. Can the CLS vets dart it?

No, out of an abundance of caution, the CLS vets do not dart livestock prior to being seen.

Does CLS offer end of life veterinary care for livestock?

Yes, the CLS vets offer end of life care. Appointments can be scheduled ahead of time. Should an emergency or sick animal case appear to have a negative outcome when the vet arrives, options will be discussed with the owner and if elected, end of life care can be provided.

Are there veterinary procedures that CLS vets don’t offer?

At this time, some procedures may be out of our capabilities due to equipment or hospitalization requirements. In the event your animal receives a diagnosis or recommended plan forward that includes specialty procedures or treatment we do not currently offer at CLS, your vet may refer you to an outside clinic that specializes in this area of care.

Can I buy medicine and supplies from the CLS office?

Yes! The CLS office in Comer has a small retail frontage where we offer some commonly needed supplies and over-the-counter medication for on-farm care. These can be purchased during regular office hours of Monday through Thursday, 9 to 5, and Fridays 9 to 1. We also offer drop-shipping to existing clients statewide. Not sure what you need? Please consult with your veterinarian for recommendations. Depending on your herd size, you may be eligible to participate in some of our manufacturer rebate programs. Feel free to ask your vet for details and how to enroll.
